About

This blog was started to be a resource for those who’ve experienced spiritual abuse in churches, the Internet, and/or spousal abuse.

These days, thanks be to God via His provision of the Internet, there are many resources for finding information about spiritual abuse. Each one with it’s own perspective. This is just one of them. Most people wouldn’t find their way to this little corner of cyberspace unless they had a need for such information, or maybe because of their own experience of spiritual abuse.

Before the advent of the Internet, those of us who experienced spiritual abuse may have felt like we were all alone and had no one to talk with about it. If we came out of the apostate organized church system, we were basically “on our own”. It was indeed, “the churches best kept secret”. It wasn’t talked about, even less acknowledged by the churches.

Those who left were often censured and made to feel betrayed by their own brethren, and left to carry their pain and burden alone. That was “back in the day”….now, many are coming forward by the multitude with stories of their own mistreatment and spiritual abuse, to the point that the term, “spiritual abuse” has almost become a by-word. Even to the point of being overdone. Well….maybe. What it indicates to me is that spiritual abuse has been- and continues to be -a major problem in today’s religious system. Therefore, it does need to be talked about, and corrected.

Perhaps by exposure, the churches will realize they have a problem that needs to be dealt with and corrected. The word is out, and is no longer to be covered up within the four walls of the church.

Young Christians have been so wounded they walked away, not only from churches, but from Jesus Himself, as if He were to blame for the misdeeds of His aberrant people. Folks, I think what I see in this present time, is the LORD Himself beginning the clean up of His church, and I thank God for this.

It’s not my intention to fight with brothers and sisters, but instead, I have a tendency to stand for the underdog…and that is, my precious brethren who’ve been wounded in the churches. I can rightly say, “I feel their pain”, for I am one of them.

However, lately, I have seen a shift in the status- quo in the operation of the Internet concerning those who’ve left the apostate churches for one reason or another. And now, we are seeing a group of people who’ve risen up online proclaiming themselves to be a resource, (and replacement), for those leaving the apostate churches, and counseling against them, and by doing so, funneling these church exiters into their own Internet blogs and websites, usually with an accompanying request for donations, and then offering up a pseudo type ministry of their own. I say,” pseudo”, because nothing ever has and nothing ever will take the place of a local body of believers gathering together to worship and serve the LORD.

I am not here to tell people to leave churches. I know there must be some good ones out there. It’s not good for any of us to isolate themselves due to being out of a godly assembly. All I am trying to say is that the Internet is not a replacement for church. Be not deceived by those who would try to make you think you can do “online church”, and be OK… constantly putting fear in people about all churches. I don’t have the answers to your spiritual needs, and neither do they.

I’ve posted here in this blog about this and other issues I see online that I feel are deceptive. But each person has to work out their own salvation, tested by the Word of God, not what I say or what anyone else says online.   It’s my hope that you will pray and use much discernment in finding the LORD’S will for you.

May peace and grace be multiplied unto you as you continue your spiritual journey.

If anyone wants to contact me privately, you may do so by e-mailing me at SpiritualAbuseSanctuary@yahoo.com

Appendix:

With this final thought, please let me make it clear, that I do not hate church, or churches, putting a blanket condemnation on all of them, as if they were all corrupt. This would not be true. What I do hate is the deception and false teaching that has crept into some of them. I try to warn and admonish Christians to be thoughtful and careful about who and what they hook up with, (even on the Internet).  Even as Jesus said He hated the Doctrines and Deeds of the Nicolaitans, in Revelation 2. Again, all I’m saying is watch and pray!

Readers, I appreciate hearing from you, and reading your comments, but please keep comments very brief, and limit to one or two paragraphs at most. All others will be removed, as well as long copy and paste stuff. No exceptions. Also, please note that I will not debate with people, or remove something something I’ve already posted, It will stand, until and unless I find some fault with it myself. Thanks for understanding! Love you all…..

May Jesus bless you and enrich you in all the wisdom of his exceedingly great riches in the Mystery of the Kingdom of God.  To Him be all the Glory!

I’m new here. I see the prophecies, etc, on your site, but is there a space where you explain what your cu cerns are about the people whose videos you are showing?

    • Scarlett says:

Hi Julie….Regarding the prophecies I post, I vet and approve those, and leave it up to the Christians who visit to be able to discern for themselves what the prophecy means, how it could relate to them personally, or if not, to disregard it. I do not try to extrapolate, or expound on any given prophecy but leave that up to the reader. That said, I do believe the prophecies I post can be helpful to Christians to learn and go beyond what is commonly taught in most churches, but should be, so that today’s Christians facing very difficult circumstances in this uncertain turbulent world can be better prepared to fight the good spiritual war we are in and win with the help of our Champion, the Lord Jesus Christ, to Whom belongs all Glory and Honor.
Finally, I’m convinced we all should be praying daily for more spiritual discernment and godly wisdom. When we are able to achieve a level of victory in this, it will enable us in many ways to live an overcoming Christian life for ourselves and to be able to also help others.
Thank you for visiting here. Feel welcome to come back anytime.
Shalom and God’s blessings to you,
      Scarlett

Thank you. I was surprised that you had the videos on your site without comment that I saw. I didn’t realize that you vetted & ok’d certain videos. Given that the site is about spiritual abuse (which I’ve experienced), I thought the videos were examples of online sites to avoid.

      • Scarlett says:

That’s understandable Julie, since I started my blog way back in about 2013…..then things short of shifted when the internet became a voice for spiritually abused people, and many more sites like mine popped up. In any case, I stopped writing so much and shifted to posting more videos I thought were important for one reason or another. So…I seldom get comments anymore from spiritually abused people, but when I do, I’m always welling to post them and discuss the issue. So, feel free to do that if you wish and tell your story.
        Shalom and God Bless you…

    Hi, Scarlett!

I’m just getting acquainted with your blog…but have already been enriched and edified by many of the articles that I’ve read over the past couple of days.

I was wondering if there’s a way that I could contact you via e-mail (?)

I have some things I’d like to share with you that I think might be of value to the site, but for now, I’d like to speak privately, as some of the topics have to do with abuse…and I need to be certain that confidentiality is maintained.

If you feel comfortable and have an e-mail address at which I could contact you, I’ll explain further. I will say that I am friends with some of the bloggers whose articles you’ve posted on your site…so what I’m saying is that…I have good references!

    Hope to here from you!

    John

I too left the church years ago, Forsaking Christian fellowship for one so mych more rewarding. I have grown more have fellowship with the Lord then I did all of those years at church. The Lord doesn’t snub me, wlak by me as if I wans’t even there, make plans in my presense without including me, tell me that I can’t beleive in miracles, put me down in any way for being in a Bible study . . . I could go on and on and on . . . but I have forgiven those in the church who rejected for a closeness with the Lord who loves me without end! ~ Blessings to you ~

  7. Michael says:

Scarlett, good work here. There is a whole collection of “spiritual deceptions” in the link below. If people would just read their Bibles this kind of deception would not be so prevalent in society.

    • Scarlett says:

Amen Michael, it’s just that simple! The energy and power of the Holy Spirit of God flow through the written word bringing spiritual enlightenment to the sincere seeker of Truth which is only to be found in the Lord Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father.

  8. "Sad" says:

Thank you for running a site like this. We need to do much to expose and correct wrong behaviors done in the name of God. I highly recommend to you the expose currently being done against IBLP/ATI/ Gothard. It is grim stuff.

    http://www.recoveringgrace.org/2014/02/the-gothard-files-a-case-for-disqualification-x2/

    http://www.recoveringgrace.org/2014/02/charlottes-stori/

    • Scarlett says:

I agree. Bill Gothard has done much damage to many people who are now having a very difficult time recovering from his abuses. Sadly also, many never have and perhaps never will recover due to falsely laying the blame on Jesus Christ himself, rather than where the blame really lays…upon Gothard, and the enemy of our souls, Satan, who uses Gothard and his ilk to destroy the lives and spoil the souls of many.
This is the snare of the fowler….listening to “men” and following them, instead of Jesus. It has always, throughout history been a trap and a snare to souls.

Although some have tried to discourage me from “naming names”concerning issues such as this, and exposing false teachers, and false groups, I feel anything that leads people away from Jesus and into deception should be exposed. This business of “keeping your mouth shut for fear of offending someone”…is a deception in itself. If someone is offended by hearing the truth…they are already in deception. The spiritual abuse, such as occured in the Gothard situation is typical of many other groups, and is the churches “best kept secret”. Praise Jesus that he is letting the “hidden things become manifest”, and bringing his scattered and abused sheep forth out of the mirey darkness into his marvelous light.

Thank you for your suggestion to open up discussion on the links you’ve provided, and shortly I will do that, in the hopes that many will receive healing and restoration. Please feel free to post these as a warning anywhere the Lord may direct you.

May Jesus bless you richly for your concern,

      Scarlett

  11. Scarlett says:

Greetings in the name of the Lord!

I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog so far and would like to encourage you to read some of the posts on spiritual abuse…

I haven’t nearly gotten around to even skimming the surface. You can be sure there is plenty below the tip of the iceberg yet to be explored, exposed and discussed.

SO MANY precious lambs have been wounded, torn and bleeding by these ravenous wolves lying in wait INSIDE the church doors. What better place for Satan to try to set up camp waiting to spring on the unwary and unsuspecting?

Well, thanks be to God and now to the Internet, bloggers have been a contributing factor in exposing this hideous monster the church has been hiding…..spiritual and sexual abuse. We really need to band together to combat this scourge inside the church so that these abusers and predators will be exposed, and have no place to hide, and yes….there is a time to name names. The apostle Paul did and made no bones about it.

I’m glad that through the Spirit of the LORD you made your way out of the apostate church, and into the LIGHT! I pray your journey will lead you to deeper depths and higher heights in the Lord. May His Holy Name be PRAISED FOREVER! Amen!

Thank you so much for your blog on your website. I think you are the only one out there trying to get this message out. You certainly have tremendous spiritual insight. Thank you for sharing.
There are a lot of people being deceived.

    • Scarlett says:

Thank you Jason. I needed that. It is very discouraging sometimes to realize the amount of cover ups that have gone on in the church, and still going on.

      God bless you~

Revelation2and2: Love your blog, and thank you very much for your insight.
Where can I see the videos on your blog about authoritarian abuse in 6 or 8 parts from charismatic cult leader Nolan Ball? I would like to see these and hear what was said in that service.
I have friends that need to see and hear this for themselves.
    Please help me help them.
    Thank you and God Bless.
    e-mail: jasonbishop2875@yahoo.com

    • Scarlett says:

Hi Jason…You’ll need to contact Revelation2and2 on their own website, as they may not see your comment here.

By the way, I had never heard of Nolan Ball until Rev posted this info. So many cults, and all of them are spiritually abusive. Christians must stop being so naive and gullible…get into the Word and prayer, and let the Holy Spirit give them discernment on such people and groups. This hero worship needs to stop. It’s nothing more than idolatry!

  14. Scarlett says:

That’s very kind of y’all, but I am definately not in that catagory, no way pithy or cool enough to be deserving. Not a Kreativ writer’s bone in my body. The only thing I have going, is my passion for Jesus, and my love for the brethren, especially those who’ve been through the fire of spiritual abuse just because they were obedient to Jesus and the devil didn’t like it.

    Lord bless you~

    • Hi! My name is Tara. I have been doing research on Apostle Ball and that entire movement. I used to attend The Rock of Waterbury, a church started by Apostle Ulsh. A “son” sent out by him. I’m currently writing a book. Would love to hear from you. I also have a wordpress blog called Narrow-Path.net
