The Parties Over…

“The Parties Over! This is what the Lord Jesus Christ said to my friend and me as we were praying and lamenting the state of the world, the United States, and things going on in general; how chaotic it all seemed.

But with the people in the world, it’s business as usual. People will get real quiet and look at you like you are crazy. Well, I guess to them, you really are one of those Christian crazies that believe in Jesus, and claim to hear His Voice. There is something about that NAME that makes most people very nervous. They may laugh at you and scoff, but it does make them very uncomfortable. I think that’s because deep in their heart they know they are sinners in need of Him but are locked into the darkness of their sinful lives.  But to we who believe….. it’s the NAME above every NAME by which we were and are saved, and will be saved from the Wrath to come, for just as it was in Noah’s and Lot’s day…surely, the Lord of Glory is Coming again.

26And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. Steeple Houses…you can’t put God in a Box

This is obviously a picture of a bird cage with a steeple on top. Pretty fancy for a bird cage isn’t it?

Steeples are interesting; there are many theories about how steeples got started. Not on bird cages, but on the top of church buildings. I don’t think anyone knows for sure why, but the practice apparently goes back to the 600’s, undoubtedly with the Catholic church. The steeples, churches and then the cathedrals became bigger and more elaborate with time.  After the reformation began, the reformers unfortunately continued many of the Catholic practices, including that of putting steeples on top of their church buildings.  As time went on the practice diversified, as things always do in the world of men, and steeples were placed on top of Lutheran churches,  Baptist churches, Methodist churches, Presbyterian churches, etc; and so on, of every shape and size, large or small,  on every street corner in every town.

Well, you get the idea, and so the putting  of steeples on top of various church denominations became standard practice until fairly recently when church design took on a more modern look.

 

However, there is just one very important problem with all this………..God does not dwell in a house made with hands, never has, never will.

“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands” Acts 17:24

There was a saying that became popular with church folks about 20 or so years ago, that went like this...”You can’t put God in a box”. This is a very true saying, however, these church folks were preaching this thing about God from the inside of boxes they had made for Him….called “churches”.

So, when mankind, thinking falsely to serve the Most High God by all this church building and steeple placing, in reality, all they have accomplished is  creating a bird cage for themselves. With or without a steeple….. that is a fact.

Parading the skull of the grandmother of Jesus

The “holy skull” of Saint Anne is kept in an urn in Cappella Palatina in Castelbuono. This is a village on the island of Sicily in Italy. This skull is taken out for a stroll once a year. 

Roman Catholics in Italy claim this skull is of the grandmother of Jesus.

“Mother Saint Ann”, so Castelbuonese call their patron saint. Indeed, she is a kind of mother figure which watches over all of them. This role suits her perfectly as she was Mary’s mother and Jesus’ grand-mother.

The skull of “St. Anne” is paraded in Sicily in Italy by the order brothers.

Saint Ann, or rather her relics (the skull), arrived in Castelbuono in the middle of the 15th century, when the Ventimiglia decided to settle in Castelbuono.
