Dear sisters and brethren in Christ:
This sad letter you are reading comes from Michael Wurmbrand, the son of the late Rev. Richard Wurmbrand, who spent fourteen years in the communist prisons of Romania, author of the book Tortured For Christ, a book of valiant Christian testimony under communist persecution that has been translated in over 85 languages. My parents died in 2000-2001 and I am now 74 years old.
Against my express request NOT TO DO SO, the mission Voice of the Martyrs of Bartlesville (VOM), Oklahoma, USA and its international affiliates, continue to use Richard Wurmbrand, Sabina Wurmbrand, my parents’ persona, pictures, writings and books, my persona also to obtain your donations!

THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!!!—THIS IS A LESSON IN POINT, THAT WE MUST THROUGHLY INVESTIGATE AN “AUTHORS, EDITORS, ETC”…OF WHOM WE READ. IT IS VERY GRAVE INDEED, TO USE A FAMILY CORPSE, WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE FAMILY, AND UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE FAMILY.
I have supported vom for years but no more
You are not alone…I and many others have as well. As Michael Wurmbrand, I’m very sad and disappointed.
Take care and God bless…
Although I came to disagree on Richard Wurmbrand’s theology, I am more concerned about what VOM has become. Massive cover-up, “too big to fail”. There are so many “big box” so called ministries just like this that have swept a massive amount of dirt under the rug. Soon, they are going to have to give account to the One who judges the quick and the dead.
Scarlett, are you surprised? As Lord Acton of England told an Anglican bishop in 1904, “It is not a question of who has the right to rule. NOBODY has the right to rule. Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Men in churches and “Christian” ministries seek money and power so that they can do “ministry” as they see fit. The first thing they do is replace the leading of the Holy Spirit with the desires and schemes of their own imaginations (mostly patterned after the ways of this evil world system), all in the name of “getting the gospel message out.” Yet, Jesus said so clearly, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”
The other side of this same coin is money. Jesus warned, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” (Matt 6:24, ESV) Jesus was so enamoured with the need for money as He ministered on the earth with His disciples, that He put a known thief in charge of the money bag. He totally depended on His Father for everything. When we cease to depend on God for our support and start begging for tithes and offerings, we show that we have ceased to be a “faith ministry” and are now fair game for the devil.
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” (Matt 4:8-10, ESV)
No Michael, not a bit surprised. Somehow, the Lord has shown me this so clearly over the years; this thing about money. Money in “ministries”, money in the government: money in the world; money, money money. To this day, I can’t bring myself to “donate”, “plant seeds”, or “partner” into, or with “ministries”…(so-called). Online, I call them “Pay Pal Ministries”. When I see that donate button, the red flag goes up. It’s like a signal that something isn’t right.
It says somewhere in the Didache, if a prophet asks for money, he’s a false prophet. I noticed the other day a well known Face Book prophet has a collection of the prophecies the Lord gave him, for sale in book form on Amazon. Writing a book oneself may be one thing, that takes many hours of labor and expense to publish, if God has called the person to do so, but merchandising the very spoken word of God doesn’t seem right to me.
Yet, from the very beginning, some things never change. Churches and those who run them, couldn’t survive without bleeding money out of their congregants, and of course, they have to bend the truth, as you’ve shown in your comment, in order to fleece that money out of them by whatever means….usually guilt, as well as mishandling the tithing issue. Actually, isn’t that called “lying”?
In any case, in due time, and I don’t think it’s going to be that much longer, that God is going to take down these modern day money changers. We’re already seeing church doors being closed by local authorities. And of course, the “tithe” money doesn’t flow in but the bills for running Jesus Inc, franchise goes on.
It’s a beautiful thing to learn to trust God for everything. If you’ve even been put to the test….I mean really put to the test, then you know that God will absolutely supply whatever the need is. It’s so amazing and freeing, actually.
Michael,I believe we’re coming into the hour where we are going to be put to the test…the place where we are going to be required to enter into His rest, absolutely trusting Him with and for everything, the need for money, (food), necessities of life, our families, our very lives. There’s a lot in the bible about entering into His rest, demolishing all unbelief from our lives. Bridging that great chasm in a leap of faith once and for all.
Hebrews 4:11
“Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief”.
Yes, amen, if we are trusting the Father for our provision as Jesus did, then we are truly resting in His promise to care for His sheep.
Thank you for your great comment….you’ve encouraged me to press in, to go a bit deeper.
