Gene Wilder: Not all Our Idols go to Heaven.

Another talented and lionized “celebrity” has passed, whether on to glory or not, I don’t know. Only the Most High God knows about Gene Wilder’s spiritual condition when he died. What we do know about his life is that he was enormously talented as an entertainer. Just to look at his face made you laugh. He was a funny guy, glorified in life as a super star, making dozens of movies, and entertaining millions. This is what the world is looking at now, his entertainment legacy, and his popularity.  And now he is gone, passed the way that all do – into history and eternity.  His fans most likely will be remembering the mark he made on the movie industry and the enormous talent he had; for the most part they will not be looking at, or even thinking about whether he was saved or not.

This came on my homepage today, “Gene Wilder has died” as Breaking News, it always occurs to me where the world places it’s priorities; on the world and the things of the world, what’s important to them in their lives that will be discussed, even sadly— that a celebrity has died. There will be comments of RIP Gene Wilder, not even thinking just what that thought entails. I wish with all my heart, that his death would mean that He is safely in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ. That to me, is the mark of a well spent life, not how successful and idolized a person may be. Friends, the world and our “fans” can’t save us. At the end of the day, and one’s life, all that really matters is what we did about the Lord Jesus Christ, and whether we accepted His free offer of pardon, and salvation.   ” 12 Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts Chapter 4. Not Robin Williams, David Bowie, not any of the popular movie figures, who have died in recent memory, but only Christ who died to save us from our sins with His own pure Holy Blood.

For those of you who may be reading this, please ponder and give pause to what I’ve said. It’s true and no lie. Do not be deceived. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can save and deliver us. That’s the most important thing we can ever do in this life…to accept and follow the Lamb of God as Savior and Lord of our lives.

  1. Maria, a gentle iconoclast says:

Thanks, Scarlett! I’m glad Heaven isn’t somewhere over the rainbow – but real and true and definite! Did you read The Five People You’ll Meet in Heaven? Jesus wasn’t among them. Wish Wilder could be there in the true Heaven! The Lord is good and just, no matter.
