Only here, they don’t call it witchcraft, they call it the art of the Curandero, or so-called healing arts. You can even sign up at the University of New Mexico to learn how to be a witch, (er, Curandero). http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/lifestyle/2014/05/26/new-mexico-to-offer-free-online-curandero-class-with-traditional-healers-from/
Sounds so much cooler and politically acceptable doesn’t it, whereas mentioning Jesus Christ might get you some sidelong glaces and eye rolls. But underneath it all, it is witchcraft any way you shake it. Satan loves it, but if you are a blood bought, spirit-filled believer and follower of Jesus Christ, he doesn’t like you and you can expect a fight on your hands if you move into his territory, especially if you’re not fully spiritually prepared for the spiritual oppression and outright attack from the evil spirits which will oppose your presence. I was not prepared, and the physical and spiritual oppression began almost the very day my son and I landed in the Southwest desert town of Truth or Consequences. There really is something in a name.
Here in TorC, as it’s called by the locals, the Hot Springs draws tourists from all over the country for health and/or relaxation purposes, where you can also include a massage afterward for a reasonable price, sometimes as a package deal at most of the spas. TorC has become a magnet for all sorts of various so-called “healing” modalities from the time when the hot springs were first developed. http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-mexico/1558884-holistic-healers-truth-consequences-old-new.html. Nowadays, taking a look in the local city directory or phone book, one can find anything and everything from psychics, tarot card readers, Reiki practitioners and other various massage or so-called healing modalities. The New Age lingo prevails here with labels such as “integrated therapy”, etc. No matter what labels these practitioners put on there various trades, there is invariably a spiritual component to it one way or another. And this is where it begins to get extremely tricky.
For example…..
If you want to opt for a massage here, it would be wise to ask the “therapist” what he or she is into, because otherwise, you will have no idea what kind of a spiritual and physical trip you may end up taking at the hands of your “practitioner”. I found this out the hard way myself recently, as I had been prescribed physical therapy by my physician to try and undo some of the other damage I’ve incurred since I moved here. I am being very serious here. I am a spirit filled believer in Jesus Christ, but I was not prepared for what I was going to encounter from the very get go in this city. What comes to mind at the moment is the Prince of Persia, the entity who was the territorial power over Persia described in Daniel 10: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Daniel+10&version=KJV:P and….https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territorial_spirit.
The bible indicates there are spiritual powers and principalities which are designated to rule over certain geographical areas. https://www.biblegateway.com KJV Ephesians 6:
“12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
I believe that where I live, as I’ve come to find out, is such a place, surrounded as it is by all manner of occult practices, and religions; steeped in Catholicism and Native American religious practices which have been practiced for centuries. You might as well say, this would include the entire state of New Mexico.
As I said, I should have been aware of just how serious this is, and what I might possibly encounter as soon as I stepped my foot in the door so to speak, but I wasn’t. Moving had been very long and tiring, and I just wanted to settle in and rest awhile. No such luck. It began as not only one serious physical attack, but simultaneously, the spiritual oppression began…one thing after another. I have come to realize I’d been caught in the “snare of the fowler”. as per https://answersingenesis.org/education/spurgeon-sermons/124-the-snare-of-the-fowler/. None other than Satan is the “fowler” who sets traps for unsuspecting people. One trap might not entirely destroy us as is his intention, but looking back on my experience, there was an entire series of events;one following after the last, a sequence of oppressive attacks, each one more serious than the last to the point where I never got a chance to completely recover before the next attack began.
Some may not believe we as Christians will ever have to battle oppression, but I am here to disagree. see, I have a neighbor living just a few feet from me who is a died in the wool witch. No, she doesn’t go around saying so, but over the past year, she has caused much damage, discord, sickness and havoc in this little neighborhood…… and against me and in my family specifically, to the extent that I am still trying to recover. As I speak, the battle rages; I have been and still -physically very sick. It has been very difficult to forgive this woman for the pain she has caused, but I know I must, and I believe I have…even to be able to love her. I reach out to her from a safe distance spiritually, and pray for her salvation. But I am aware of the fact that she is needs deliverance from the spirits working in and through her. And….I pray for this town that Truth will prevail in a Mighty Outpouring of His Spirit to wage war with the present darkness and evil here. I thank God that He has shown me this need, even if it meant that I had to go through this awful suffering and oppression.
I ask that Intercessors who read this will remember us in prayer here.
Scarlett,
Until your post, I’ve never heard of TorC.
I passed thru NM recently and had what I believe was an open vision. I recall it distinctly but am lacking understanding/clarity/wisdom. I don’t know if it was meant as a personal message or had a prophetic meaning. At this point I’m just waiting on Him…
Very interesting comment. Thank you! New Mexico is truly as their motto says, “Land of Enchantment”, but one has to beware of enchantments other than the natural beauty of the land.
Please let us know if the Lord chooses to open your understanding concerning this “open vision” if you feel so led.
Blessings,
Scarlett
Wow, I recall the motto but I never really considered it’s “meaning” until you just mentioned it!
Blessings,

Thank you Maria. I must confess that very, very seldom do I ever ask for prayer. I’ve come to believe that in whatever need, to go to Christ first. But. there are just those times when we need the intercessory prayers of the brethren. I am still suffering physically, and it’s very difficult to take care of myself right now with no one to help.
I am very grateful for the way you responded to me in such a kind, compassionate way…that’s what Jesus always did, as it said in the Word He was “moved with compassion” towards those suffering. Yes amen.
That said, I would like to share something that happened recently when a sister in the state where I moved from wrote me, and I sent back a brief note and asked her to call on the phone instead because I was simply too sick to write an email. Anyway, she did. and when I told her how sick I was and coveted her prayer, she began to say she didn’t have to put up with sickness, that she was covered by the Blood of Jesus, etc. Well, she never did pray, but I was left very disheartened and feeling like I didn’t have enough faith to obtain healing. So, the upshot was this same sister wrote me the next day and said she’s been up all night with a severe case of diarrhea. Now, mind you I love this sister dearly, but it occurred to me it is a serious thing how we respond to our brethren when they are in distress of any kind. And we should be very very careful how we speak to a sick person. When a person is very sick, the last thing they need is a “Job’s Comforter” giving them condescending advice.
As for me, I am purposing to pray especially for all those of all ages who are suffering any kind of sickness. And…..also praying against the spiritual wickedness in this town and for revival to come.
Love in Jesus Maria., The Lord bless you,
Scarlett
It is a serious thing, Scarlett. This morning I thought this way, sinned in my thoughts about a sister in Christ who has been nothing but kind to me. She has cancer and I wondered why! Very wrong. About your friend, she must be a child of God for He chastened her. That is a reason to give thanks.
To be on the receiving end, when you’re already feeling ill, must be so hard. Good thing He has given grace to forgive.
About healing, yes, we must not be negative or unbelieving, but healing is His work.
Love in the Lord to you in your very difficult time!
Proverbs 4:23
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life.
Sister, Yes, she is a Christian. And….I know I’ve without doubt, done the same thing, probably more than once. I pray the Lord has forgiven my arrogance and presumption.
I think most of us question, “why” when we ourselves get sick or afflicted, and ask the Lord, “Is there something between thee and me?”
I pray for your friend that she will obtain mercy, relief from pain and suffering and the healing from the sickness of cancer.
Thank you for your kind remarks once again.
Love in Jesus
Love in Jesus, Scarlett! God bless your friend! Would you pray that I stop wasting time? I need to be ready.
Thank you for praying for our sister Pat!
Scarlett, just want you to know I’ve read this and want to pray for you and your son, and for the Gospel in TorC! This is a mission field just as much as overseas. May the Lord give you His wisdom and love for the lost! May He guard you as His dear child!
Thank you and God bless you. I need the prayers of the saints so much now right now Maria. Only Jesus Himself knows just how much.
A prayer request is nothing to take lightly, Scarlett. It’s good that you asked for prayer! I know you have the mind of Christ. Will pray with you.
I’m posting these testimonies from Cynthia and Pauli as an encouragement to those who are suffering and under demonic oppression, and in the hope they will be a blessing to you as they were to me. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ, Yahovah Raphe, the Lord who Heals.

You nailed it brother. These people don’t understand…….but they are convinced in their own mind that they do. Just the objections and arguments I get on the blog from Reikans claiming that I am the one who doesn’t know the truth, and how evil I must be to say unkind things about Reiki and just how wonderful and beneficial Reiki is, is proof of what you said.. They are greatly deceived.
It is the strangest but saddest thing to witness the people in this video invoking “spirit guides” they falsely assume are benevolent, but are instead, and in fact, demon spirits using them as mediums. And to top it off, as the video and news articles report, being a “Cuarandero” is now considered to be fashionable and trendy. It’s interesting, but frustrating to note, most of them practice variations on the same theme. Wonder how that’s expected to work, and which of their “spirit guides”, has the most power?? or gets the best results?
In this present world, when there gets to be more of them and less of us, (real Christians), we have a problem, and the Lord does expect us to use the weapons of our warfare. Just in case we’ve been ONLY reading about that and not expecting to ever have to actually USE them, we will soon find ourselves confronted with an enemy armed to the teeth with deadly weapons, who’s intention isn’t just to mess us up a bit but to totally annihilate us.
And as for me…in my distress, I called upon the Lord. When I had NO strength left, and so sick I couldn’t take care of myself, or even pray as I wanted to, I began to PRAISE HIM, remembering that He inhabits the praises of His people. Yes, He really does!
Psalm 149:
6.Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;
7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;
8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD
Thanks brother,
Grace unto you, in His Name. .
Thank you Scarlett, for revealing once again the actual nature of our warfare, and what this fallen world is actually all about. Non-Christians often wonder about God’s intentions and even castigate God for His seemingly hard core decisions, principally perhaps, for example, regarding the historical Canaanites and all the trouble they caused His people. Non-Christians will have a decided tendency to side with said Canaanites, thinking that God is mistreating them. These people have no clue what is really going on and how evil such evil people can be. It is always interesting that non-Christians will also have a tendency to slam real Christians first and come to the aid of rank sinners and the demon possessed. At the end of the day all one must do is see what this world did to the Lord Jesus. Anyone who stands up for the Lord Jesus will be treated the same. But the Lord has made great HOLY SPIRIT power available for anyone to be strengthened and anointed to fight against all evil spirits. Thank you for doing so. The people must be rescued from their deception to such bad spirits and false beliefs. That is the often thankless task of the real Christian, but great thanks comes forth every time a new believer in the Lord comes forth, born again, and set free from the devil’s oppression and deception. Keep up the good work. Be blessed.
Santeria is another cult practice that is a blend of witchcraft and catholicism
Hi Tony, that goes on around here to a certain extent, as well as some hidden churches of “The Penitante” where they crucify and flagellate themselves.
I met a great man of God online a few years back that was sent to be a missionary into the jungles of Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. He told me of the many times the witch doctors …..and the Catholic priests tried to kill him. By the grace of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, the last I heard he was still alive and doing well in the Dominican Republic where he married and settled down.
Thanks for the comment. Your input is always welcome and a blessing.
Grace unto you,
Scarlett
