The title of this video is “Evil Whispers, Spiritual Contaminants and Accusers of the Brethren”, but it could just as easily be described as wicked imaginations and evil surmisings.
Most Christians would be shocked to have anyone suggest they were guilty of doing such a thing as being an accuser of the brethen. Really? On the contrary, may I suggest that evil surmisings, and wicked imaginings and the like occur in Christian circles more than you may imagine.In fact, I believe even Christians are subjected to the accuser of the brethren almost on a daily basis in one way or another. How? It’s very simple; by hearing something on the news, or reading something on Facebook, or possibly from a Christian friend,and even worse, speaking wrong things out of your own mouth.
Please don’t be so shocked.It happens. Gossiping and backbiting have been almost a staple in Christian churches and among “God’s people”. Yes, that’s what I said. Jesus said something along those lines as well. Unfortunately, this can apply to church folks as well as Pharisees,(or perhaps some church folks could be considered Pharisees in amongst the brethren by their behavior).
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart[g] brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12
Words reveal ones character,and whether or not Christians have had their minds washed by the pure words of scripture and whether or not they have cast down wicked imaginations coming from thoughts arising from their own minds. Thoughts should be examined,and wicked imaginations should be cast down immediately to the obedience to Christ.
Words have power to either edify, or contaminate,as the video suggests. Listening to gossip is a spiritual contaminate. Do you know someone who talks all the time? Or,are you one of those persons? The Lord Jesus wants us to pray without ceasing,not talk without ceasing. I believe the Lord Jesus choicest saints are those who are few of words;who choose their words wisely,and are slow to speak.
In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,
But he who restrains his lips is wise.
