The Wheat and the Tares:
How many times have you heard someone in the church say something to this effect, “Let the wheat and the tares grow up together”? I have. It’s become what one might call a man made tradition in the church. Why is that? Well, because when used in that context, what church folk mean, is that we are supposed to allow the tares…in the church…remain there, and then at harvest time, the LORD will do the separating himself.
OK, that may seem very spiritual of these church going Christians, but…is that what Jesus really taught? I’ve gone over this teaching a number of times, and I can’t find one scripture reference that indicates that tares are supposed to be allowed to grow in the church, which is supposed to be the Body of Christ. Why in the world would Jesus want tares in the church when He already taught that a little leaven spoils the entire lump?
Lets look at the scripture where Jesus explains the meaning of the parable, from Matthew 13:
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
So, you see, the LORD clearly explains where the tares have been sown;….the field is the world.
Of course it is true that these worldly evil tares were seed that had been sown by the enemy, Satan, and many have infiltrated the church, the Body of Christ. But it is not truethat it’s the will of the LORD for them to be allowed to remain there and bear unhealthy fruit.
Most of us have heard the description and characteristics of tares, but what kind of bad fruit do they produce?
The tare weed, otherwise known as bearded Darnel has poisonous properties. It hasn’t been decided whether the seeds themselves contain the poison, or if it originates from a fungus that usually infects the plant. However, if darnel is ingested, or makes its way into bread, it produces an array of unpleasant symptoms. Ancient Greeks and Romans used darnel medicinally to induce a sedative effect. It produces multiple symptoms of drunkenness, such as drowsiness, hypnotic episodes, trembling, inability to walk, hindered speech, vomiting, giddiness, and lowered visual acuity. It can even stimulate convulsions and death if taken in quantities large enough.
That doesn’t sound like very beneficial seed, or fruit to me. So, it seems obvious that although these seeds grow wild in the world, they shouldn’t be allowed to be planted in the church, as these man made church traditions claim, “let the wheat and the tares grow up together “.
Friends, this is why, again, it’s so important to study and understand what the Word of God is actually saying, because as you can see, this particular one can have serious effects if allowed to take root and grow in the church, the Bride of Christ, that is supposed to be without spot, wrinkle or blemish.
If something as simple as this parable can be so distorted, can you imagine how twisted some of the less easily understood scripture passages can be?
I have read an article denoting that the role of the tare on the wheat is somehow helping the wheat to maturity as it grows. I cannot accept the truthfulness of that statement until I could find a biblical verse in the Bible. I really appreciate your help.
Ronald, there is no truthfulness to be found in that article, and you will not find it validated in the bible because it just isn’t there. Jesus never taught that tares were any any way “helpful” to the wheat. He taught they were sown by the devil. It pays to stick to what the bible teaches about all things pertaining to holiness and the Lord.
Read what the Lord Jesus taught about the tares:
The Parable of the Tares Explained
Matthew 36 “Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
Also,Ronald, if you would send me the link to that article, it would be my pleasure to post a rebuttal to it.
Thanks and God bless you.
Thank you for your very fine blog site, … and for being a watchman on the wall. GOD bless and be with us through 2015 and until His Return. Baruch HaShem YahOvah-Yah ahvah: BLESSED BE THE NAME of THE LORD GOD YahOvah-Yah ahvah: THE ETERNAL SUPREME BEING & FATHER of Divine Love.
Amen and thank you Brother Hummel. May peace and grace be multiplied to you today and in this coming year.
Maranatha!
I urge you, I plead with you to spread this simple & powerful word far & wide: IT IS TIME, … IT IS TIME . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-WaXMuO9mk&feature=youtu.be … video is about one minute, 20 seconds:
I will be putting up a serious Last Warning Call to the US very soon.
God bless you for sounding the alarm. It’s our responsibility to do so.
Yes. CONFESSION. FRUIT. and the discernment of and from the Holy Spirit within. More & more we should all be desiring and asking to be continually filled and led by THE HOLY SPIRIT. … the world is now moving toward separation of wheat from tares/goats.
Yes, indeed Len! It becomes more apparent every day. I just feel that urgency in my spirit.Praise Yeshua!
PS: Of course I should add that by no means do I think I “know it all”, in the flesh, but only when there is a supernatural knowing about something or someone, by the Spirit of Yahshua, can I be certain of something.
WHAT ARE THE BEST MEANS available to test or try whether a spirit is OF GOD … or not ? JESUS IS THE LORD. … and *genuine* Christian Love that progresses on to perfection and Christ-likeness.
As for me, I’ve found that growing in the word of God and His Spirit has helped me; and by time and experience. Plus, and I think this is very important….I prayed for godly wisdom and discernment every day when I got down to pray. Over a period of time, I was blessed with a discernment that could only have come from God.Even to the knowing of things, at times, that hadn’t even happened yet, or sometimes things that were going on in my children’s or someone elses life.Sometimes, this discernment would come as a need to pray for someone, or even as a warning the enemy was going to attempt to hurt me in some fashion. This is not something that happened all the time, but only as God wills, about certain situations or needs that were important to pray for, or take heed to.
Thank you. Christians certainly NEED to be wise & discerning regarding “the working of the evil one through the children of disobedience.” … we are to TRY/TEST the spirits to SEE/discern whether they are of GOD… or not.

A Field of Tares:

Click on the link inside to see a true illustration of “tares”…INSIDE the church. I wouldn’t go so far as to say inside the Body of Christ, however. This is so sad, brethren. How far the witness of Christ has fallen into the gutter. Is it no wonder the world laughs at and rejects Christianity?
Exactly. My thought today on this, is that godly discernment is desperately needed in this matter and this hour, that we take care to be able to “know” by the Spirit, what is the nature of a tare, if there be any amongst us…less we carelessly weed out a precious grain of immature wheat believing him or her to be a tare.
For….
“Mercy is better than sacrifice”. And to take care that our own light be not darkness for the Lord will not hold us guiltless iin these issues of spiritual life.
Another thing: true brethren in Christ express & communicate LOVE and never betray one another without repentance and reconciliation over any kind of betrayal. The betrayal of friendship and right relationship *is the very essence of what satan and adam did in time and creation.* – we should be very careful that we are never guilty of the same kind of sin.
I TOTALLY AGREE that we should be wise and discerning regarding the REALITY of tares and goats in the world. If we [elders in particular] are not vigilant: the tares {“the children of darkness”} will overwhelm and infiltrate everywhere. tares are rejecters of Truth and have an agenda to disrupt and cause chaos and unnecessary divisions. They also refuse to acknowledge CHRIST as the Lord and the only Savior.

Sister Scarlett makes an excellent point of not allowing the tares of this world to come into the assembly. Even in the midst of trials we must be wary.

This needs to be posted again….just in case some church folks still think it’s OK to welcome tares, aka leaven, into their fellowships so, “They can grow up together”.
The point is, we have to examine what they scriptures plainly say in text, and in context with the whole of scriptures, rather than prooftexting isolated verses and trying to apply them to fit in with our own understanding. In this case, this “wheat and tares” mantra has been repeated so often by Christians it has become accepted as Holy Writ….and it’s not. But instead, it’s merely a Christianized “old wives tale”.
you could well be right on this. in any case, the categories of “wheat & tares” are very very fundamental truths from the NT and the words of Jesus. glad to see you are still contributing in the high spiritual place. hope all is well with you, adelpit. life goes on, … let us do all we can to prepare His return.
blessed is the man that learns to hate himself as he is and the world as it is
holding no thing against his fellow man
blessed is the man that earns belief and never had to see another man do a JESUsclassmiracle in order for him to reach that earning
blessed is the man that gives all he has to others and does in such way that none are aware of his comings or his goings
blessed is the man that removes the spirit of slumber from around the willing spirit in the heart of his worst enemy and then walks away unremembered
blessed is the man that leads the flock by perfect example having spoken no word to them but only hugged them in their greatest hour of need
blesses is the man that has not taken of the tithe offering to feed his belly
but went in the world with little and by THeLORd1JESUs gave much
for this man spends miracles to heal that he has paid for the sake of the insane predestined wheat
he shall walk among them unseen in the rags of a begger
creating a foundation upon which two and then thousands
will stand
and none will know his name
I have decided to forgive everyone. it’s the only way to life and press forward. stay well. stay strong IN THELORd Yeshua.
Thats good advice for all of us, and then we can set our own souls free from bondage to move on to grow and get to know and serve Christ in a greater measure.
Thanks for stopping by the blog!
Jesus bless you,
Scarlett
Bruce…I don’t know you, except by your comments here. If it were up to me, I would edit out a few of the words you’ve used, but I have allowed them on this post because otherwise, there are some very beneficial spiritual insights included in them, which I find very rare and precious.
May the Lord Jesus help us all to separate the precious from that which does not profit.
Many of us have become dull of hearing,,,,having heard so much. Lord, help me to have a “deeper hearing” that I may walk in Your Spirit.
Jesus bless you,
Scarlett
Bruce/rbc, Thank you for your usual wise and worthwhile insights & sharings. May the Lord God Yeshua bless & protect you & yours.
Bruce/adelpit, … Thank you for your usual wise and worthwhile insights & sharings. May the Lord God Yeshua bless & protect you & yours. And may He bring you into HIS PERFECT & GOOD WILL in the earth.
adelpit346/bruce is one of the most interesting persons ever posting on the internet. he has decided some time ago to pretty much cease communicating via “the high spiritual place.” {which is what he calls “cyberspace”} he is missed, 1) because he never got offended at people & their “personal-stuff” and general foolishness & insanity, and 2) because he always shared his unique perspective on “the assembly of all TRUTHe” which he insists he received in a visitation to the Third Heaven. I wish him well. Most of all, I wish him GOD’S PERFECT WILL in his live & mission.
simple thing
there are two ways
by the spiritual eye the wheat has the fingers of fire/HOLY SPIRIT hovering over his head
by the ear
no man can say JESUsisTHeLORd1 but by THEHOLYSPIRIT
the tare is the child of the enemy
that child has an unwilling spirit in his heart
the wheat is the child of THeLORd1JESUs
he has a willing spirit placed in his heart
the first is the dead that bury the dead
the second is the insane person that THeLORd1JESUs asked forgiveness for he knows not soulfully/conscious mind what he does
there is a reason for this
there is a spirit of slumber over his heart that prevents his willing spirit from exposing the need for tribulation
which is you can not earn belief/JESUsclassmiracles until you forgive all for their sins
both tare and wheat alike
for you know not one from the other
and the wheat will do the greater sin
as your insane soul understands sin
he is your worst enemy you are to love
the tare is in the background urging him on
love you
I am nothing0
