Video song by Jason Bellard: REPENT

(For your discernment. As for me, I feel these coming judgments  prophesied by Steven Crowder, (below), are in the making, due to the organized churches complacency, worldliness,  and selfish disregard for God, combined with the sinfulness, unbelief and ungodliness of America.

America and the lukewarm mainstream apostate church have become like unto Sodom and Gomora. The sins of Sodom and Gomora were pride, idleness, fullness of bread, and they didn’t take care of the needy.)

Why Did Jesus Hate the Doctrines and Deeds of the Nicolaitanes?

Why did Jesus say He HATED the Doctrines and the Deeds of the Nicolaitans? Do you think it just possibly might be due to just some of the men, and their deeds included in this video? Read on in Rory Moore’s fine article below to understand just what, and who, the Nicolaitans were, and are, in today’s churches, and why Jesus HATES IT! And by the way, Nicolaitans don’t have to be TV evangelists that live better than most kings; they can operate out of dinky little street corner churches, main stream organized church denominations,in store fronts. OR, even on the INTERNET..!! It’s the way they operate, lording over the LORD’S flock in an authoritarian manner, rather than as a humble, loving servant shepherd that marks them as a Nicolaitan.

Nicolaitane Errors as Their Mystery is Revealed

Overcoming The End-Time Nicolaitanes
“neither as lords over God’s heritage” ???

disclaimer: At times it may sound as if I am anti-pastor. This is not so, I am a teacher-pastor.
We love the overseers whom God has graciously put in our lives.
The truth is for exposing the harlot system and her institutions, and not at any individual.

JESUS said:
“But this thou hast, that thou hatest the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate
So hast thou also some that hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans in like manner.
Repent therefore; or else I come to thee quickly, and I will make war against them with
the sword of my mouth.

VERY few Christians recognize the Nicolaitane error and fewer “hate” that which they do not understand.
Not only are the Nicolaitanes singled out in that passage, but upon examination we can find them
throughout the scriptures!

Revelation 2: (To the church at Ephesus)
6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate;
15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.
16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Here is the truth:
What He detests happens to be the most common form of church government .

“Nicolaitane” is from two Greek words “Nike” and Laos”, and means:
The word “nike” means “to conquer”…to dominate/ intimidate/ manipulate.
The word “laos” means “the people”, the laity.

Therefore hidden within the word itself is the answer.
By definition the deeds and teaching are of those who conquer, dominate, manipulate, and “lord it” over the people.
Today they are known as “Reverend”, “Bishop”, “Pastor”, “Apostle”, etc., (note the Capitalized Titles) because they are part of an institutional church system God never created.

The difficulty in identifying the Nicolaitane error is because the labels have changed,
thus the illusion that something is not what it is.
Most of us who were part of that system had no clue as we followed the church culture.

Why does Jesus “HATE” their deeds and doctrines?

Simply put, when men take authority by means of a Title, hierling, or Bible College Degree, they often take the place of God, through the process known as “having respect of persons”, in which a mans titled position elevates him as a “lord over God’s heritage”.
This has become modern idolatry in the New Testament. (see Two Ways to Answer God’s Call )

Clergy over the laity virtually guarantees the majority of God’s people never mature into faith as Christians and walk in the steps of Jesus or do what His disciples did in the book of Acts.

People follow their “leadership”, rather than Jesus Christ, as men make “disciples after themselves” as Paul warned in Acts 20: 30
-In other words, the local church is conformed to the man with the title, who usually gets his position from his denomination or group.

The church or ministry is then conformed to that mans image, which is an incomplete image of Christ.

Denominational, factious, competitive Christianity has given the church a hierarchial, professionalized, titled,
church governmental system foreign to scripture, i.e., “the error of the Nicolaitanes”. For example:

There is no senior pastor, pope, cardinal, Arch Bishop, General Superintendent, priest, or denominational structure in scripture
There is no scripture giving any pastor-priest sole rulership, headship, or authority over God’s people.
There are no formal titles or labels attached to any New Testament disciples including the obvious ones like the apostles.
There are no church boards, assistant pastors, co-pastor, associate pastors, or senior officials.

There are no presidents, superintendents, youth pastors ; there are no capitalized Apostles, Prophets, Bishops, Pastors, deacons, Elders. Anyone wearing a formal title is well on the way to becoming a Nicolaitane.
The word “pastor” is used only once in the New Testament, and not even one Titled pastor is named!

. The practice of one man being used in all of the 5 fold offices is unbiblical and a way to avoid accounability to scripture.

-How easy it is for a leader to use a hierarchial structure and authority against people,
but how hard it is for the people to use it with a leader.
Jesus said He hates the Nicolaitane error and the Nicolaitane error usually prevents leaders from being held accountable for either sin or error.

Overcoming the Nicolaitane error and deeds

In Revelation 2, this is for the people of God who have “eyes” and “ears” to overcome.
To him that overcometh, to him will I give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, which no one knoweth but he that receiveth it.

-that mysterious verse is understood by those that DO overcome and are taught of the Lord Himself, which is the Spirit-revealed truth of the Word.
As opposed to those that only learn to repeat what they hear in church from the doctrines of men, especially the teaching (doctrines) of the Nicolaitans .

Several strong admonitions are given in scripture in regard to what Jesus said was the relationship among the brethren and what correct church government is: (we have a series on this http://www.preparehisway.com)

Here is what Peter said in 1Peter 5:
1 The elders (plural) among you (the church) I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the
sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Tend (feed) the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint (force) ,
but willingly, according to the will of God; nor yet for filthy lucre (not for reward) ,but of a ready mind;
3 neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock.

In this passage, note the elders (plural) are among us, Peter includes himself as an elder, and there is no specific mention of “pastors”.
Why not? Because God gave elders to have oversight and “tend” the flock. The “elders” were to do so not from duty, obligation, or money.
– “neither as lording…”?
“neither”: “as in not even, no, not once”.
Lording is “to control, subjugate: – exercise dominion over (lordship), be lord over, overcome”

But this is exactly what the Nicolaitane error does and Peter said not even once was the flock to be carnally subjugated, controlled, or have someone exercise dominion over the flock. When the Christian sees the truth of scripture, he will need to realign his thinking in terms of what the New Testament ministry truly is, not from what we have seen all around us.

1Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ;
(not a pastor, Bishop, apostle, or Senior Church official)

The ministry is given to serve, edify, and stewardship the faith.
They are to comfort, correct, and contend for the faith. The faith they are to condend for is THE faith of scripture, not the fragmented, conflicting, sectarian confusion of faith found in the church world.

The ministry is not to become the head of every man and woman. There is no “spiritual covering” as such, in scripture.
Friends, Jesus gave, taught, and lived THE FAITH to His disciples, who in turn gave the same gospel and the same faith to the churches they established.

The Bible record bears no resemblance whatsoever to the practices and structure of the modern church and one-man ministries around us.
No pews, pulpits, choirs, worship leaders, assistant pastors, co-pastors, boards, orchestrated services, voted-in or hired pastors, etc… see what the Nicolaitanes have wrought: “NOT in Scripture?”

Part 2

1 Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, *governments, diversities of tongues.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
*governments”?, The word “governments” means: “pilotage, directorship, steerage”.

Do we need to correct ourselves here?
Should we put the hired flock tenders, tithe collectors, hierarchial leaderership, titled clergy, robed or Gucci suited, camera focused, accent lighted, big screen, weekly orators back on their platforms so we can devour their words, visions, and fund their programs?

Let’s look at the verse again and run for the shelter of scripture.
1Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, *governments, diversities of tongues.

1. NOTICE the order “God hath set in the church… governments “,
if the pastor is the primary governmental “director, pilot, and steerage” of the body, then he is way, way
down on the list behind the prophets, teachers, miracle workers, and healers.
2. Where in the verse does it say the word “pastor” in terms of “governments”?
3. IF pastors are the head of local church governments, where is that in the verse?

4. If pastors are “governments”, then why are the helps, healings, miracles,
AHEAD of the directorage-pilotage-steerage?
5. If pastors are “governments” then why are teachers, prophets, and apostles ahead of the directorage-
pilotage-steerage?
6. If pastors are “governments” should they not do what Jesus said “them that believe” would do in Mark 16?

17 And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.

In Matthew 10, Jesus said:
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: freely ye received, freely give.

I have been to far too many Christian funerals for those who died young and were never healed according to the Word. And that freely give part? ….. well, you can figure out what free means without me.

The pastors of scripture were the “no-name” laborers of their day, “among the people”, serving, supporting, and sharing their substance with the believers as the apostle Paul was “careful to do” and as he told the bishops of Ephesus to do likewise in Acts 20:35.
The same went for the prophets, apostles, teachers, and evangelists, who all served Christ without expectation of fame or fortune. They were the elders, overseers, deacons, teachers, and ministers of the faith who did so without a smidgen of self-promotion or lording any carnal authority over the people God gave them to serve. (Except the wolves like Diotrephes in 3rd John)

These actions were NORMAL for the Christians and pastors of scripture, but they are rare today.
Many pastors compare themselves to Moses who led the people of God to the “Promised Land”.

The idea there must be a solo leader-centered administration of a church body over the folks in the pew is 100% Nicolaitane.

As the Nicolaitanes John wrote about in 90 a.d, . imposed their error and deeds upon the church, the pastor-priest became the preeminent personage; i.e., the directorage-pilotage-steerage.
It was never meant to be.

Who gave the pastor-priest preeminence over the rest of the five-fold ministry and the false hierarchial system of “accountability”?
It was the Nicolaitanes.
And as many of us finally realize, this is the most common form of church government around us. .

Before the end of the kingdom of ancient Israel, (the last days of Israel), the Lord was manifested in flesh and called His people to come out of the harlot, the apostate church of His day which was ruled by the Nicolaitanes. History now repeats, the same pattern is being played out in the last days of the church.

How do you “overcome” the Nicolaitanes?
For most, it means walking out the “church” doors, going home, and asking God Himself to take their error and deeds out of your hearts. It means leaving the deceiving comfort and false assurance of a fallen church system you cannot find in God’s Word.

The Lord said “come out of her MY people…”

Husbands as Priests in the Home-a Different Gospel

HUSBANDS AS PRIESTS IN THE HOME:
A Different Gospel

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.( Gal 1:6,7)

There are many ‘different’ gospels being taught across the Christian world in this day. Paul wrote to the Galatians “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” (Gal. 1:8) And he remonstrated with the Corinthians : “For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!” (2 Cor. 11:4)

One such perversion is the very common teaching that a husband or father has been ordained by God as the priest in his own family home. In its extreme form those who propagate this teaching state that a husband is ordained to be the ‘prophet, priest and king’ over his own family. In a brief internet search on this subject I even came across someone peddling the idea that a husband is the ‘high priest’ in the family home.* This false teaching is akin to the ‘covering’ doctrine which teaches that believers must be spiritually “covered” by someone in the church with more authority than themselves (e.g. pastor, apostle etc.) For more on the covering doctrine please see our article “Uncovering the Covering Doctrine” at our website.**

The idea of male headship in the home is based on an incorrect interpretation of the Greek word “kephale” in 1 Corinthians 11:3 and Ephesians 5:23, which in its purest form conveys headship as the original source (as in the head of a river), not a chain of command as traditionally taught. This controversial issue has been well covered elsewhere ***. My purpose in this article is to focus on priesthood rather than headship.

There are two very good reasons why any sincere Christian, male or female, should find this doctrine of male domestic priesthood offensive to the gospel. The first one is that this teaching simply does not stand the test of scripture. It is based on a hierarchical view of Christian family life that demotes wives to junior partnership in the marriage relationship, when the New Testament clearly teaches that all believers, regardless of gender, are ‘joint heirs with Christ”.

There is , however, an even more important reason to be offended by this false teaching and to reject it totally. To teach that there is a priesthood solely based on gender and marital status is an affront to the unique and unequalled priesthood of Christ Himself who alone in the New Testament is named as Priest, High Priest, and Great High Priest of the New Covenant (Heb 4:6; 3:1; 4:15). Proponents of the ‘husband as priest in the home’ teaching clearly demonstrate their lack of understanding of Biblical priesthood and of the gospel they claim to serve. As there are absolutely no New Testament scriptures to support this false doctrine, those who teach it commonly cite the Old Testament Aaronic priesthood which was hierarchical in nature. Under the New Covenant, however, the old priesthood has passed away and a totally new priesthood, the Melchizadek priesthood, is operating. Indeed, even Jesus’ own priesthood would be rendered legally invalid under the old Aaronic priesthood because He was born from another tribe, Judah rather than Levi (Under the Old Covenant all priests were from the Tribe of Levi, see Numbers 1:49-54, 3:12, Hebrews 7).

What is Priesthood?
Under the Old Testament law, the priests were set apart by special consecration from the rest of Israel to exclusively minister to God (Ex. 29:44). Israel as a nation had been chosen and set apart from the other nations by God as a ‘kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (Ex 19:5,6). Within Israel the Levites were further set apart as the priestly tribe (Num. 3:12). And among the Levites it was from the family of Aaron that the High Priest was to be appointed. The main role of the High Priest was as a mediator between God and His people. He would oversee the Levitical priesthood and once a year He would enter the Holy of Holies with sacrificial blood to atone for and obtain God’s pardon for Israel’s sins since the last Day of Atonement. This Aaronic priesthood, however, was merely an imperfect and incomplete picture of that which was promised to come (Mal. 3:1,Hebrews 8:6-13).

We are not of the Old Covenant, we are of the New. We are not of Aaron, we are of Christ. Under the New Covenant ‘there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” (1 Tim. 2:5) The New Testament teaches us that we have come ‘to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” (Heb. 12:24) Furthermore, “both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren.” (Heb. 2:11). Take note: “those who are being sanctified are all of one…..”. God’s people are one. There is no longer a special priestly tribe set apart with a specific consecration to mediate between God and His people. There is “He who sanctifies” and “those who are being sanctified”, who He calls His brethren, and we are one people with no special role based on external factors such as tribe, family, race or gender (Gal 3:28)

To assume a place of mediation between God and another believer based on some imagined ‘special priesthood’ is unscriptural and presumptuous. Those who teach and practice this are usurping Jesus’ exclusive role as Great High Priest under the New Covenant. Apparently it is only females who need this extra priestly mediation through their husbands (or fathers), which implies that the Blood of Christ is insufficient for you if you are a woman. Those who impose this teaching on women would do well to remember that Christ’s all-sufficient priesthood came at great cost: His own Blood. I have yet to meet any other human being who could equal that cost.

Believer’s Priesthood
Nowhere at all does the New Testament make reference to a special priesthood role within the confines of marriage or home. What does the New Testament have to say about the believer’s priesthood then? Simply this:

The apostle Peter addressing the whole church:
“…you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” ( 1 Peter 2:5 )
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light” (1 Peter 2:9)

The Apostle John addressing the whole church:

“ To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood and has made us kings and priests**** to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever, Amen” (Rev. 1:5,6) (NKJV)

The twenty four elders who fall down before the Lamb:

“You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests**** to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” (Rev. 5:9, 10) (NKJV)

Those who teach men, women and children to observe an extra biblical ‘priesthood’ that is found nowhere under the New Covenant are teaching error. Their attitude is “never let the truth get in the way of a good tradition”.

Prophet, Priest and King?
Having dealt with the fact that there is no New Covenant priesthood based on gender or any other external factor, we will look briefly at the teaching that a husband is also a prophet and a king to his wife and family. If our understanding of the role of a prophet is one who is anointed by God to speak to God’s people on God’s behalf, it follows that a man who is a prophet to his family must have a special anointing to speak to his family on God’s behalf. That in itself would not be a problem if the teachers of this erroneous doctrine did not believe that this prophetic anointing is only available to males. It is a wonderful thing to receive and give a word from the Lord, or to share insights received directly from God’s heart with the ones you love. Jesus, speaking to His disciples, promised “…when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you (the church) into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” (John 16:13).

Under the Old Testament individuals were singled out by God (both men and women) as prophets who would speak truth to His people and guide them through His revealed will. Some of these were Samuel, Nathan, Deborah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Huldah, to name just a few. However, under the New Covenant the Holy Spirit has come, not to specific individuals, but to the entire church to speak that which He hears from the heart of God and to guide us, collectively and individually, into all truth. So again we see confusion among the proponents of this teaching between Old and New Covenants. The promise of the Spirit was given to the church, not to a certain section of the church based on gender (Acts 1:4, 2:33; 2:39) The teaching that a man has a special prophetic role over his family which is not available to his wife has no scriptural foundation. Rather the Bible teaches that all may hear from the Holy Spirit and all may prophesy (1 Cor. 14:31).

The New Testament is clear that God has poured out His Holy Spirit so that each one may hear directly and choose to obey. “ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons (children) of God” (Romans 8:14). It is clear from scripture that no such idea of a husband as ‘prophet priest and king’ was held in the early church. That is why Saphirra was called to account by Peter for her own decision to agree with her husband in lying to the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:1-10). God is not unjust: if Ananias were her ‘prophet, priest and king’ she would have been expected to follow his leading and would have held no guilt of her own.

The church is called to be a prophetic community, and while I believe God does raise up individuals to function as New Testament prophets, such ones are sent by Christ for the express purpose of building up His church (Eph. 4:11-16). Scripture does not support the concept of only a husband being a prophet within the specific context of his marriage and family.

What then of kingship in the home? According to one proponent of the ‘husband as prophet, priest and king’ teaching, “God’s kind of husband/father is also a king (completing the trilogy of responsibilities). Old Testament Israel was theocratic, and yet God raised up kings (Saul, and then Davidic kings) to lovingly and wisely rule for God.”*****

Please check the scriptures for yourself. God did NOT want Israel to have any other king but Himself. He allowed them to have a human king because they had rejected His own Kingship over them. Furthermore He gave Israel a solemn warning that the king who reigned over them would cruelly oppress them (see 1 Samuel 8). Though there were kings such as David who sought to reign righteously over Israel, the majority, including Saul, did not do so.

The root of the ‘husband as priest and king in the home’ teaching lies in the view held by the Puritans that God has ordained a ‘divine order’ in state, church and home and has appointed delegated authority to each of them. According to respected author Sue Hyatt: “Each institution was divinely ruled by means of delegated authority: that is, in the same way that the head-of-state allegedly derived authority from God, the head-of-church derived authority from God, and the head-of-home derived authority from God. And the head (meaning ruler) of each of these had to be a man because, according to their theology, God had predestined man to rule!”******

Biblical kingship simply speaks of authority to rule spiritually. Jesus gave the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven to His church (keys speak of authority) (Matt. 16:19). Under the New Covenant there certainly is a believer’s kingship that can belong to all disciples (see Romans 5:17, 1 Tim. 2:12, Revelation 5:10, 20:6, 22:5) This kingship is a reigning over creation and spiritual enemies. It is not a reigning over other disciples. Jesus made it very clear that His idea of rulership is not exercising authority over other believers (including wives) (Matt. 20:25-28). Biblical kingship is a spiritual attribute of the church, under the one true King of all Kings, Jesus Christ. The kingship espoused in the “husband as prophet, priest and king” teaching is an unscriptural domestically based rulership arising from a carnal understanding of spiritual authority that has no basis in New Testament scripture.

Conclusion
There is only One who has the right to claim the title of Prophet, Priest and King. He is the One to whom all knees will bow and the One whose Name shall be confessed by every tongue. Viewed under the light of scripture, the ‘husband as prophet, priest and king in the home’ teaching is nothing other than a different gospel which all sincere followers of the Lamb should reject and oppose. Under this false doctrine countless women and girls are subjugated daily and countless men labour under unrealistic, unscriptural expectations. There are many faithful, loving Christian men who sincerely desire to follow the Lord and nurture their families under His grace and sovereignty. I thank God for such brothers. The issue here is not with them. It is with those leaders who, rather than repent and turn from their error, continue, for whatever reason, to perpetuate a false gospel and impose it on those they supposedly lead.

May the Lord be glorified in His church!

Richard Wurmbrand False Prophet

Much has been made of Richard Wurmbrand being prisoner in Rumanian Communist Prisons, his book, “Tortured for Christ” and the suffering he endured as a “Christian pastor” believer in Christ. These things as well as his intellectualism and the fact that he founded what has become known as the Voice of the Martyrs has propelled him and the organization into a huge widely known, and so far, “well-respected” iconic ministry of mega proportions with vast financial resources and power.
All that seems admiral on the surface but what has apparently slipped under the radar is his ecumenical, and Marxist socialist so-called “Christian” apologetics and doctrine.

More recently during this past year of 2012 is the suicide of the US Director of the Voice of the Martyrs, Tom White, under mysterious circumstances, apparently as a result of the molestation of a minor 10 yr old girl.

All well and good you might say, for the organization has all appearances of doing much good for the persecuted Christians of the world……….but, at what expense to the truth of the gospel, considering that from the get go, Richard Wurmbrand, and Tom White, have consistently blended the evil of ecumenism and a pro-Catholic persuasion into the writings of the Voice of the Martyr newsletters and publications, making NO DISTINCTION between the pure evangelical gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the cult of the Roman Catholic church and it’s mysticism.
I leave this for the readers discernment and ask you to pray about it. Also, I wish it to be known there is indeed another organization which gives relief to persecuted Christians, that of the International Christian Concern. Please understand I am not enforcing this group, and in fact do not know all there is to know about them, but merely offer this as a possibility for the reader to explore as an alternative to VOM.

The Death of a Prophet

Two important persons with respect to the Christian faith passed away in the last two weeks (This was written 2-23-01). They were both prophets. One was John Rushdoony. He was a true prophet of the Lord and made significant contributions to the defense of the Christian faith and the understanding of God’s law, especially in his magnus opus, “The Institutes of Biblical Law”. He was a prolific writer and many of his books were key attacks on the citadels of secular humanism in our society. As a warrior for the Christian faith he will be missed, even if a few of his more extreme theonomic views, such as keeping the dietary laws of Moses, were rejected by most of those who loved and respected him.

The other prophet who has just passed away is Richard Wurmbrand, the premier apostle of the “underground church”. Wurmbrand, best known for his best-selling “Tortured for Christ,” was also a prolific author, and well known for his opposition to the Stalinist terror of the U.S.S.R. and its satellites. What is less well known is his theology. Taken as a theologian Wurmbrand has to be classified as a heretic and a false prophet. Even a cursory study of some of his writings displays a breadth of error, mysticism, idolatry, and confusion that is appalling and at times blasphemous.

The following article about the “underground church” was written back in the early 1970’s and documents, even back then, some of Wurmbrand’s strange and heretical beliefs. As it was written in the Editor’s “wild and wooly youth” (I was in my twenties) please attribute the intemperance of some its statements to the exuberance of youth. The article was scanned in so it may contain a few glitches.

CULTURAL WARFARE II – THE UNDERGROUND CHURCH

FALSE PROPHETS
While few Christians have recognized the realities of false prophets, the scriptures clearly do. The Apostle Peter declares, “There were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you”. Paul, too, makes such deceitful penetration of the church a matter of certainty, warning, “For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock”. Christ himself, constantly exposing the false teachers of his day, continually warned the disciples, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, bur inwardly they are ravening wolves”, and, “Take heed that no man deceive you . . . For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets . . . insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” That Christians who confess the scriptures as the infallible word of God should continue to ignore at their peril the warnings of the Head of the Church and His Apostles, is incredible. Yet the Church in general continues on as if the very problem or the possibility thereof did not exist. Too often the subject is considered exhausted when one has rebuked a Joseph Smith or a Herbert Armstrong, as if such were actually in danger of deceiving the very elect. Neither should the Christ deniers and blasphemers of the National or World Council of Churches pose a problem to the Lord’s people. Christ reserved his rebukes for the Pharisees, who posed as the most zealous and orthodox teachers of the law. Similarly, Paul warns not of every Hellenistic cult but rather of those that are “false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness.” It is with such that the church has to deal, and it is of such that Paul declares, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you lei him be accursed ” Paul’s churches were prepared to face Satanic impersonations of angels from heaven and of the apostles themselves; today’s churches are not.

DISCERNMENT
While Christians often prefer to hide behind such a pious and sell-righteous misquote as, Judge not, that ye be not judged”, the scriptural warnings obviously require some judging and a great deal of discernment. Rather than evade the issues the Apostle John exhorts us, “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment” and to “believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” To discern such requires the inspiration of the Spirit of Truth. The body of Christ is composed of many members, each fitted for their particular function by the respective gifts of the Holy Spirit. And when Paul lists these in I Cor. 12 he includes the ‘discerning of spirits’. Then, as now, the church’s armor is incomplete when she fails to exercise this gift of the Spirit.

THE TEST
The Mosaic law had a test for false prophets (Deut. 18:20-22), but what test can the church apply today to ferret out false teachers? False teachers who come in sheep’s clothing, with wonderful testimonies, proclaiming all the fundamentals of the faith, establishing their credentials and winning the hearts of the Lord’s people by being all that could be expected of an angel of shining light. For if they came as scoffers and deniers, they could never accomplish their objective of disarming and destroying the church by the introduction of more subtle heresies. What test, what standard of discernment can be used to identity these emissaries of Satan?

Christ declared that no man can serve two masters, and that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Neither Satan nor his emissaries can deny themselves; they must consistently promote the Kingdom of Anti-Christ. The nature of that kingdom is revealed in Rev. 13. It is an economic dictatorship where the beast controls the right to buy and sell and thus coerces all men to worship him. When the state controls the marketplace it is socialism, and the Kingdom of the Beast will be a Marxist socialist, totalitarian dictatorship. Socialism is internationalism and prepares the way for the one-world rule of Anti-Christ. It is in these areas that the false teacher will strive to establish the kingdom of his lord, and it is there that he will inflexibly affirm that theology of Anti-Christ: Marxism! The resultant Christian Socialism will mightily prepare the way for the coming and acceptance of Anti-Christ. People will have been deluded that the Kingdom of God is to be established here on earth by social reform, and will have accepted the principle that only the state can carry out the sweeping social changes necessary to institute the new world order. Thus, it is in this area that the false teachers and the deceptive apostles will do their subversive work. Such is the American Apostle, Billy Graham, when he identifies himself as a “fundamentalist with an ecumenical heart and a social conscience”. And such are the apostles of the underground church.

THE COMMISSION
NKVD agent, Anatoli Granovsky, was one commissioned as just such a false teacher He was instructed to defect and then by his virulent condemnation of communism to gain the ascendancy in anti-communist organizations. Once there, his specific instructions were,

“Most foreign anti-Soviet publications attack us for the alleged poverty of some of our people, for our prisons, concentration camps and Cheka. This sort of attack is not in the least dangerous to our cause- in every country there are poor people, jails and police. Furthermore, Communist sympathizers are convinced that, being loyal to the doctrine, they themselves would never be sent to jail. . . They are quite prepared to believe that our Cheka, concentration camps and restrictions exist because they have to exist . . . If a man is in any way inclined toward the Communist doctrine, he will not be in the least deterred by being reminded of the harder and severer aspects of Soviet government.

‘When you talk publicly against the Soviet Union,’ I was laid, ‘follow the same harmless line as fanatically as possible. TALK OF PURGES, PRISONS, AND THE CHEKA. BUT DO NOT DRAW POLITICAL CONCLUSIONS OPPOSED TO THE MARXIST-LENINIST PHILOSOPHY. If you do that you are finished, finished for good. ” (I Was An NKVD Agent, pp. 148-149, Emphasis mine.)

THE APPLICATION
The Bible says, “not everyone that saith Lord, Lord” but rather, “by their fruits ye shall know them” Examining the fruits of the apostles of the underground church is a discerning but disappointing exercise. While vocal in their opposition to communism, they are strangely silent concerning Marxism. While decrying the brutality of their alleged torturers, they often affirm their ideology. They all speak of terror, torture and persecution but they never deny the political conclusions of Marxism. From Wurmbrand’s “Tortured For Christ” to Solzhenitsyn’s “Gulag-Archipelago” they all follow the same harmless line as fanatically as possible.

THE POLITICAL CONCLUSIONS OF MARXISM
Richard Wurmbrand is the original and undoubtedly the foremost apostle, if not the patriarch, of the underground church, and all others are but carbon copies. Rather than denying the political conclusions of Marxism, Wurmbrand’s writings reveal a consistent propensity for the theology of the beast.

Marx summed up Communism as the abolition of private property. Wurmbrand agrees, declaring that “Property is theft” and that Christians must renounce the abomination of private ownership of goods (p. 177). Wurmbrand’s endorsement of the socialist welfare state includes a reinterpretation of the text, “If any would not work, neither should he eat” to mean that the state is obligated to feed all men and therefore the state has the right to make them work (p. 176). Thus he endorses the very principle behind every socialist slave labor state. He also advocates a Marxist classless society and proposes. to accomplish this by the nationalization of all the land, the first point of the Communist Manifesto (p. 174). Sounding more like a Trotskyite than a Christian, Wurmbrand reproaches the Communists for not taking the revolution far enough. There are still classes in the Soviet Union, such as ‘Party Members’, Wurmbrand complains, as in his not infrequent praise of Marx’s idealism he affirms the views of those whose only contention with the slave masters of the Kremlin is that they have betrayed the revolution by their infidelity to the ideals of Marx and Lenin.

But the conclusive test is Wurmbrand’s affirmation of the social gospel. For him salvation is not only personal but social, and such social salvation will usher in the Kingdom of God here on earth (pp. 171-172). Here Wurmbrand stands solidly as a Christian Marxist, declaring that there is much common ground between Communism and Christianity and that the good points of the former all stem from the latter. Thus Wurmbrand’s Christian Socialism as well as his persistent Zionism (pp. 190-192) continue to lay the necessary groundwork for the Kingdom of Anti-Christ.

A STRANGE THEOLOGY
Theology, the knowledge of God, must he based on the scriptures. Wurmbrand doesn’t think very highly of the scriptures, placing them on the same level as the writings of Shakespeare and other religions (p. 101), quoting the Talmud and the Kabala as frequently and as authoritatively as the scriptures. Wurmbrand doesn’t think very highly of theology either, calling it sin and terming systematic theology an impossibility (p. 186). But if skeptical of the scriptures, he confidently asserts his own opinion, in his defense of atheism, that the Bible is wrong when it considers all atheists fools. Stating that those who pass from a belief in God to becoming God (pantheism) have achieved a religious atheism that is a higher form of Christianity, he declares that those who deny God may be closer to the truth than those who don’t (pp. 131-133). Wurmbrand’s persistent pantheism (pp. 96, 162, 179, 182) ought to be considered in the light of Samuel J. Andrew’s warning that pantheism “lays a broad basis for the deification of man and so serves as a preparation for the Anti-Christ ” (Christianity and Anti-Christianity In Their Final Conflict, p 158)

Much of Wurmbrand’s theology can only be classified as weird. His writings teem with fables and legends, with mysticism and superstition, with Mariolatry (pp. 30, 35-37, 79) and veneration of saints (pp. 67, 72), and even a pagan Hindu deity (p. 169). But of the heart of the Christian gospel, in keeping with his social gospel, Wurmbrand denies the sufficiency of Christ’s blood atonement (p. 156). Wurmbrand’s contemporary popularity should echo Paul’s warning, “for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine” in the heart of every true believer.

A MARXIST THEOLOGY
But if Wurmbrand fails to conform to the scriptures he certainly doesn’t hesitate to conform to that unholy triumvirate, those three prophets of scientific socialism: Darwin, Marx and Freud. The principle of evolution, heralded by Darwin and seized by Marx as the basis for his messianic drive to the utopia of Anti-Christ, finds fertile soil in the theology of Richard Wurmbrand. There we find that God himself evolved (pp. 19, 44), Christ evolved (p. 291, and Christianity as a religion evolved from paganism (p. 11 1).

Although Freud regarded himself as “one of the most dangerous enemies of religion” (Rushdoony: Freud, p. 34), Wurmbrand plunges into the jungle of Freudianism as he proceeds to psycho-analyze Marx, Lenin, Stalin and company. He thus concludes that they were basically good men unjustly harmed by emotional traumas and complexes in their childhood and that society is to blame for turning such talented and beneficial geniuses against itself (Why Am I A Revolutionist, pp. 5-16). Total depravity, apostasy, the rejection of truth and the judgment that follows (Romans 1, 2 Thess. 2) are ignored as the true genesis of these fountainheads of anti-Christianity

But above all it is especially a Marxist theology. Wurmbrand’s morality is a Marxist morality. To the Marxist, peace, the absence of resistance to communism, is the highest goal, and morality becomes anything, including murder, theft, deception, etc. that will advance that single goal. For Wurmbrand, love is the highest goal, and love is to love the communists, for in this religion anti-communism is hate and therefore its single sin. Thus his love is the Marxist’s peace as he declares, “Sin is every second of my life spent on something other than the destruction of what opposes the triumph of love . . . For me the only criterion of a deed is: does it prepare the way for the final triumph of love” (p. 51). While the scriptures say, “If ye love me, keep my commandments”, Wurmbrand says, “Love God, and do what you will” (p. 53).

But Wurmbrand’s Marxism runs deeper than to stop with even such communist amorality. He says that no law can be righteous, even if it is divine, because every law fixes standards for men of unequal abilities who are put in unequal situations, and therefore God’s law is unjust, unfulfillable and evil (pp. 16-22). For Wurmbrand, justice, which is the highest goal of Christianity, is only possible in the Marxist classless society where all men are equal. His hatred of the divine law is only matched by his blasphemies against the divine Legislator (p. 22), declaring that such a God needs forgiveness’ for his evil laws, that such a God needs a Savior like Jesus, too (P. 18).

Again, Wurmbrand’s Marxism runs deeper than even his Freudian justification of the heroes of the U.S.S.R. He holds the Marxist doctrine of Economic Determinism, that all human actions are determined solely by one’s environment, especially the economic environment. Hence Marx preached that human salvation requires a new economic environment, socialism, to replace the capitalistic environment that produces war, racism, and poverty. Wurmbrand agrees, saying that conscience is unfair because “it does not accept DETERMINISM” It does not acknowledge the obvious fact that my action was the UNAVOIDABLE RESULT of my character SHAPED BY MY WHOLE PAST LIFE . . . THE ONL Y RESPONSE which I . . . could give to EXTERNAL STIMULANTS. Conscience attributes to me alone the guilt of an action which was the end result of . . . the PRESSURE OF MY SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT” (pp. 26-27, Emphasis mine). Wurmbrand goes on to justify every sin from adultery and homosexuality through suicide, since obviously society and not the criminal is to blame. And in this faith it is obviously not spiritual regeneration but a revolution in the social environment that is called for. Other than complaining of the environment of terror, prisons and secret police, Wurmbrand’s faith, theology and gospel is Marx’s faith, theology and gospel. A gospel of creating the Kingdom of God on earth by an environment of love through social action. A gospel of social salvation till we have a classless society ruled by love, not law. An international love, an ecumenical love, that will produce One World, One Church, One Race!

NEUTRALISM
What is the mission of a false teacher? He cannot destroy the church against which even the gates of hell will ne’er prevail, and he cannot blot the names of God’s elect out of the book of life. Thus his mission is to neutralize. To neutralize the Christians who are the light of the world and the salt of the earth, and to seek to fulfil the words of Christ, “but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” He knows that that light must be quenched and that salt neutralized before the program of Anti-Christ can succeed. He knows that it is a spiritual battle (For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers), and if the Christians can be neutralized, then indeed there will be no opposition.

LOVE ?
Christians love justice. Wurmbrand loves love, and like most religions of unbiblical love it degenerates into an indiscriminate, promiscuous love of evil. It justifies the wicked in his sin and calls us to love the criminal, the homosexual, and most of all the Communist. Such permissive love knows neither morality nor justice, as Wurmbrand justifies Laban’s deception of Jacob. “But Laban did not allow him to have her (Rachel), unless he took the ugly Leah too. Laban was a just man, and did not allow preferential love. Christian love must embrace both the good and the bad” (Sermons In Solitary Confinement, p. 67) But as Christians face the greatest onslaught of anti -christianity of all history, Wurmbrand’s neutralizing line is, anti-communism is sin, it lacks love. But Biblical love, regulated in terms of God’s law, knows nothing of such indiscriminate love of evil in defiance of God’s word, which declares, ‘ Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? Therefore is wrath upon flee from before the Lord.” To love evil is to hate the good, to love the Communists is to hate the Christians, to love the Anti-Christ is to hate Christ. Rather than love the evil, the Bible declares, “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” David’s love of God compelled him to declare, “Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? . . . I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.” David’s triumphal song was, “Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight” David rejoiced and gave thanks because, “thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly” and “thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies’ that I might destroy them that hate me.” This is the spirit of militant, victorious Christianity that has carried the Lord’s people onward since the days of King David and must sustain those that would occupy till Jesus comes. And that is the militant Christianity that the Wurmbrands must destroy to prepare the way for the beast.

But Wurmbrand’s strategy goes further than just neutralization. Though any real opposition is sin, we are allowed to fight communism by adopting it. He says, “But, as a Christian must be a Jew to the Jews and a Greek to the Greeks’, so in dealing with Communists, in the same sense we must be Communists. It is . . . impossible to win them if we adopt an anti-Communist approach” (Christ On The Jewish Road, p. 177).. Thus, Communism is not to be opposed with militant, scriptural Christianity but rather with Christian Marxism, as Wurmbrand leads the way showing us the ‘good’ points of communism and the common ground of socialism and Christianity. Wurmbrand, moreover, adds that communism thrives on the injustices of capitalism. Injustices which can, of course, only be rectifiers by adopting socialism, the only path of successful resistance. Thus are the Lord’s people called to surrender and adopt the theology of Anti-Christ.

ATHEISM ?
While often steeped in Marxism, the universal objection of these ‘apostles’ to communism is that it is atheist. This, too, is a neutralizing thrust. Atheism may have been a legitimate complaint in Old Testament times, but it certainly is not in the New. The issue now is the claims of the historic Jesus of Nazareth, which men cannot ignore but are universally called upon to affirm or deny. And accordingly all are then classified as Christian or Anti-Christ.

Atheism is a sin of omission. It can easily, be corrected by adding a belief in God. If Communism is merely atheist, that poses no serious objection to it, it being all well and good but merely insufficient. It then becomes only necessary TO ADD A BELIEF IN GOD AND COMMUNISM WILL BECOME ACCEPTABLE! Atheistic Communism can easily be transmuted into Christian Socialism. Clearly, this is Wurmbrand’s line and the extent of his opposition to Communism. Clearly, this is also the way Communism must develop. The Society of Anti-Christ will not be an atheist society but a religious society where a counterfeit Christianity has flourished. Thus Wurmbrand’s position not only neutralizes the Lord’s people and prepares them to accept socialism, but it is also a necessary prerequisite for the establishment of the beast upon his throne. Again, the only refuge from such subversion is the firm belief that Communism is Anti-Christ. Christian Anti-Christianity is a logical impossibility. Only then does the clear alternative ring out to the Lord’s people: Resist it to the death, seek its total destruction and strive for total victory over it without thought of co-existence or compromise. That is the only path of duty and safety, and that is the straight and narrow path from which these false teachers are luring the very people of God.

CREDIBILITY
The professed heroics of the ‘Soviet Saints’ abound in tales of the impossible. We are told that Christians have infiltrated the Soviet secret police, the KGB, and even the Communist Party, and thus protect their persecuted brethren, warning them of raids, etc. Granovsky’s testimony of the life of an NKVD agent shows the utter moral impossibility of the former. And any brand of Christianity that would join the ‘Party of the Beast’ to survive is far removed from the standards of loyalty that the Savior established for his church. And are we really to believe that Christians bound by God’s law could beat the masters of deceit at their own game? Then we hear that Brezhnev’s wife is a Christian and that Khrushchev himself was converted in retirement at a Christian Businessman’s meeting in Odessa, U.S.S.R. One is almost tempted to think that there must be free enterprise and prayer breakfasts throughout the Soviet paradise. In fact, Wurmbrand assures us that there is much open evangelism and even public protests by Christians in the U.S.S.R. (If That Were Christ Would You Give Him Your Blanket?, pp. 11, 12, 17, 19, 20). He tells us that there are 45 million underground Christians of the ‘Orthodox’ faith alone, another 4 million Baptist, and that one quarter of the Soviet population are secret Christians. We are told that one whole area of the U.S.S.R. is exclusively populated by Christians and that the phenomenal total of 1,500,000 secret Christians are jailed annually in the Soviet State (Ibid. pp. 31, 37, 50). And thus does Wurmbrand statistically affirm his neutralizing line that while Christianity is weak and decadent in the capitalist West, it is well and thriving under the culture of the beast. And all this we are expected to believe! ! !

And it is being believed! The “Christian Crusade Weekly” of Sept. 1974 featured an article by a student of American Christian College. The student wrote a glowing report of the summer that he had spent evangelizing Russia in a Volkswagen bus. Accompanied by an interpreter, though not knowing a word of Russian, he had gone about contacting the underground churches and passing out Bibles. It seems that although the NKVD has been trying unsuccessfully for over 50 years to smoke out these ‘secret’ Christians, anyone from America, even an immature college youth, can do so with ease Then the “Christian Beacon” of March 6, 1975 haled Solzhenitsyn as a ‘committed Christian’. The same Solzhenitsyn that is the darling of the left, that was heralded by the liberal “New York Times”, was awarded a Nobel Prize generally reserved for socialists and communists, was released by the Soviet government with his family and all his papers, and now follows the same harmless line as fanatically as possible And both these papers regularly feature Paul Voronaeff, another “Soviet Apostle”. But apparently the Soviets still think highly enough of him to employ him as an interpreter when they visited this country with a delegation of other phony churchmen, the official Communist clergy (Christian Beacon, March 20. 1975). Truly, as long as Christians exercise such little discernment, the false teachers need scarcely be masters of deceit.

CONCLUSION
Much, much more could and should be said, but one newsletter can only say so much. Paul commended the Berean Christians because they “searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Even so, today’s Christians must test the spirits and see if these ‘things be so. We are faced with cultural warfare and the destruction of that Christian liberty and culture that we need to survive as the Church of Jesus Christ. It is a spiritual warfare that far exceeds the barbed wire and machine gun mentality of shallow and artificial anti-Communism. Christianity is being choked out of existence by the political conclusions of Marxism. The false prophets of the underground church represent merely another, a more sophisticated, phase of that same cultural warfare. They are sent to penetrate the church and subvert the remaining foundations of Christianity in the West.

The evangelical churches have been very severely penetrated with Marxism. The scriptures, the foundation of Western Christian Civilization, have been increasingly replaced with the political conclusions of Marxism. And it is on such a foundation of sand that the Wurmbrands and their adherents ask us to fight the Beast of Anti-Christ. If the church is seduced in this respect, when the storms come, great will be the fall of it.

In the final hour of history the church will be called on as never before to be loyal to Christ and to exercise spiritual discernment. Christ commended the Church of Ephesus because “thou hast treed them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars”. Let us likewise, enduring to the end, finishing our course, keeping the faith, and exposing all the unfruitful works of darkness, seek to earn the commendation of our Lord, till he returns in power and glory to destroy the whole Anti-Christ conspiracy with the spirit of his mouth and the brightness of his coming. Amen!”

The Lie of the “Prosperity Gospel” & Those Who Preach It!

This post isn’t just about the false prosperity gospel, it’s about the other lies perpetuated in today’s apostate mainstream church, that’s built on the same LIE AND DECEPTION based on the Old Testament defunct “tithe” they continue and MUST MAINTAIN to keep their Nicolaitan system intact and operational. Without the illegal “tithe”, “seed faith” offerings this old leaky ship would sink to the bottom of the ocean where it belongs.

http://www.letusreason.org/doct54.htm

“Those who hold the position of tithing for the church are confused of its purpose and history. No Christian should be coerced into giving a set amount to receive God’s blessings. The simple reason is that it removes them from walking in grace and puts them under the law. The Pharisees tithed and watched what people gave, and they continued to tithe as the church was birthed. The church did not tithe.

“Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.”(1 Cor. 16:1-2). Notice Paul says the collection for the saints. This is not necessarily a weekly tithe but appears to be a collection for others in need. Those saints in other areas that were in need of financial help, from one church to another. “A contribution made by the rich for the relief of the poor (from Adam Clarke’s Commentary). “A contribution, or collection of money for a charitable purpose (from Barnes’ Notes).

And what of the commands of helping the poor? Instead, we only hear about robbing God if we do not tithe. You are still sinning if you have something to give, and are selfish towards those in need. God would rather see people serve and participate willingly then be under compulsion to give large amounts of money to others to do the work. “Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. (1 Tim. 6:18-19; Gal.5:13) Numerous needs go unmet inside our churches. We need to give to brethren who are in need, not just give to big ministries so they can become bigger. They are not the only ones who do God’s work.

The principle of tithing in the Old Testament was to benefit those in need as well: Deuteronomy 26:12: “When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled.” Deut. 14:27-28: ”You shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with you. ”At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.” Have you seen any ministry that insists on tithing do this? Why not, it is part of the tithing law.

Are you listening to the “TV evangelist” telling you to sow your seed for your need? Promises, promises…
Paul writes, “For there are many unruly, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucere’s sake” (Titus 1:10-11).

The most ingenious, imaginative ways were invented for gaining money. Tetzel was sent to the people to help raise funds to build Peters Basilica by bringing the law of indulgences to the people and it is no different today. Only then, the Roman Catholics did not have the Bible in their native languages to read; today we have no excuse as Protestants. The words of Hosea continue to echo to us today, (4:6) “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge.” Bible knowledge is he is referring to.

New Testament believers are never commanded to tithe but to give (the amount is between you and the Lord). Consider the story of Ananias and Sapphira that has been used and abused in so many ways– Acts 5:1-4: “But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? “While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

This was not about tithes but a freewill promise they made and they did not keep their word. This does not mean as some claim every time you intentionally lie you will be judged so you must keep your vows (though we should have no intention of doing so); not if you were manipulated by lies into keeping the vow.

Consider what Paul wrote to Timothy the young pastor of Ephesus, “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness” (1 Timothy 6:6-11). If someone is always talking about mammon, then they are not serving God. You cannot have two masters.

New Covenant Principles

The guideline for our giving to God and His work is found in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7: “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly.

; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.” Grace means freedom- law means obligation. We should give back to God as he prospered us, as we purpose in our hearts.

The epistles are the teachings for the church. They contain numerous instructions, corrections and rebukes. Not one of these letters have tithing taught or practiced for the Church–The tithe is not mentioned as an obligation. Tithing is mentioned in the book of Hebrews which was written to Jewish believers in the Messiah, not to Gentile churches. The word “tithes” is found four times in Hebrews chapter 7, more than all the epistles combined. (Heb.7:5, 7:16, and 7:18.) The New Testament focuses on our High Priests ministry of Jesus Christ of whom Melchizedek was pre-figured in type (Heb. 7:2, 4, 5-9). Abraham’s tithe in Hebrews 7 is mentioned to explain the greater priesthood of Christ, it is not teaching the practice of tithing to the Church.

Hebrews 7:5: “And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham.” (Heb. 7:9-10 Levi was in the loins of his father when Abraham met the priest of Salem.) Only the sons of Levi were to receive tithes. This means if we do not have a Levitical priesthood we have no right to ask for tithes as if they are obligated to the church. In other words, the Levitical priesthood was instituted with the tabernacle, and the Temple– not the church. God has given a new priesthood to the church– according to the order of Melchizedek. Again, what was given to this priesthood was a freewill offering of the spoils, not a portion of Abram’s income. For the writer of Hebrews says, 7:11-12: “Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.”

PS: Never did like Mike Murdoch. He even looks shady. It’s hard to believe that people are still supporting this con artist. Remember Jesus righteous anger as He overturned the money changers tables and cast them out of the Holy Temple? saying, “My House shall be called a HOUSE OF PRAYER”…….but you have made it a den of thieves!

Remember the warning of Jesus, “The LOVE OF MONEY is the ROOT of ALL EVIL”. Down through history, even unto this very days this has been true. Examine your hearts! For what does it profit a man if he were to gain the whole world, and yet loose his soul? Please think about it!
